Mandated Clearances for Volunteers

The Diocese of Greensburg requires all clergy, parish, cemetery, school employees and all volunteers aged 18 or older to have all of the following clearances and trainings prior to work or ministry in the diocese. For an in-depth description of how to complete these clearances and why they must be done, please visit the Diocesan Clearances and Trainings website.

For each of the Clearances below, please return the completed forms and printed certificates to the parish office at your earliest convenience. Forms and certificates can be mailed to the parish office or dropped into the collection basket in a sealed envelope. It is best to hand in all forms together (rather than one at a time). ALL completed clearances must be on file in the St. Margaret Mary Parish Office before an individual is eligible to volunteer for any parish-related activities.

PA State Mandates


Criminal Record Check: https://epatch.state.pa.us  

Fill out form online, print certificate, and return to the parish office.


PA Child Abuse History Clearance:  https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home

The $10 fee has been waived for volunteers.  You have to verify that you haven’t received a free clearance check within the last 57 months in order to avoid payment. Once you complete the form, you can choose to either have a certificate emailed to you or mailed. Return the certificate to the parish office.

Mandated Reporter:  www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu

Go to registration first before beginning the sessions. After finishing course, print certificate and return to the parish office. The Mandated Reporter Training Module will take approximately 3 hours to complete. The Training Module can be completed over multiple sessions.

 

 

Diocese of Greensburg Mandates


VIRTUS Training (Protecting God’s Children):  http://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/

Go to registration and you will receive an ID and Password. After finishing course, print certificate and return to the parish office.


VIRTUS Recertification (to be completed every 5 years)

  • Go to:  http://www.virtusonline.org/

  • Login for existing account

  • Enter User ID (If you forgot username, contact the parish office @ 724-335-2336)

  • Enter password (If you forgot password the system will prompt you to change it)

  • Click sign in

  • Go to Toolbox tab at left side of the screen.

  • Select: See available training modules

  • Under Safe Environments select the course title either “Keeping the Promise Alive” 3.0 or “VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children Re-Certification for Adults”

  • Click assign training

  • Click green check

  • Click here to start

  • Once you have completed the course, please print your certificate and send to the parish office.

FBI Fingerprint/Affidavit

Anyone who has lived in the state of Pennsylvania 10 years or longer does not need to be Fingerprinted.  They do however need to come to the office to sign a sworn affidavit with the notaries.

If you need to be fingerprinted, please visit the IdentoGO website to register online and find a fingerprinting center near you. After you are fingerprinted, they will mail you a certificate with your record. Please return the certificate to the parish office.
