I’d like to learn more about Catechesis of the Good Shepherd or Faith First.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is an approach to the religious formation for children ages 3 - 12. It originated in 1954 through the work of Dr. Sofia Cavalletti. The methodology of the Catechesis utilizes Montessori teaching principles to help children develop an informed and genuine relationship with God.
Classes are held Tuesday mornings starting at 9:30 AM and Tuesday evenings starting at 6:00 PM at the Mary Queen of Apostles Freeport Road Site. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd begins in early September usually around Catechetical Sunday.
Faith First is the “classroom model” of religious education with monthly Faith Nights that bring faith lessons for the entire family. It is for children in Grades K - 5 and meets on Monday evenings from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at the Mary Queen of Apostles Freeport Road Site. Faith First begins in early September usually around Catechetical Sunday.
